About The Artist
Megan Day started Studio Leihgeber in Austin because she believed the objects you live with are doing something to you, whether you notice it or not. Not decor in the decorative sense. More like the lamp you turn on before you read, or the vessel that sits on a side table long enough to become part of how that table feels. Physical things in the right place. That was the starting point.
Everything comes out of the Austin studio, designed and made by Megan: hand-coiled stoneware vessels and sculpture, and ceramic pendant lights that carry the same material sensibility into functional form. The work is different every time because it is made by a person, and that is part of what it is.
Leihgeber is Megan's maiden name. The name is on the work because the work is a serious practice, not a side project, and the objects that leave the studio are meant to last in the rooms where they land.
